What this book presupposes is… maybe he didn’t?

The AP is reporting that Owen Wilson attempted suicide. Do we think this is a delayed reaction to meeting four Duke physics grad students at the Cosmic Cantina a few years ago?

Man, I hate to think that he’s actually as depressed and disconnected as many of his characters have seemed — kinda takes the humor out of them.

Any word on if he’s seriously hurt?

From the title, I was sure this was going to be about the OJ book…

  4. jwambaugh says:

It’s a line from Royal Tenenbaums where Owen Wilson’s character is describing his new book.

It looks like maybe you fixed the spam problem?

I was wondering if all the spam from Florida was part of the problem. Supposeduly most American-generated spam is produced there.

It’s a stupid quote, and really has nothing to do with the situation except for the fact that Wilson’s character said it, but it was delivered tremendously well in the context of the movie.
Plus I wanted an excuse to create the “obscure movie quote” tag.

Since this post seems to get a lot of traffic, I think we need the full quote for completeness:

Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is… maybe he didn’t. Eli Cash (Owen Wilson), The Royal Tenenbaums
