Short Dickel

George DickelGeorge DickelGeorge Dickel Whisky, a favorite of the Greek and Whiskey club, is in short supply this holiday season.  Apparently a glut was produced in the ’90’s in a failed attempt to compete against Jack Daniels, the only other Tennessee-process whiskey (meaning that the whiskey is filtered through charcoal to shorten the amount of time it needs to age).  This would probably explain why, despite it’s superior flavor and smoothness, it was so darned cheap back when we were trying whiskey.  Production was halted from 1999 through 2003, and even with it’s relatively short aging time of five years, it won’t be until 2009 until we can once again have stiff dickels.
